NexC: The One-Stop Shop for Hospitality Recruitment
When the exclusive Chez Moi in Hong Kong needed to find a replacement
for its ailing head chef on extremely short notice, the French restaurant's
owner called NexC. It wasn't an easy task - Chez Moi doesn't have
a printed menu and needed someone in three days.
Using their extensive industry contacts, NexC's staff got to work
and located Hannes Wagner, an accomplished Austrian chef who was vacationing
in mainland China. Wagner cut short his trip and filled in brilliantly
at Chez Moi for two weeks.
It was one small example of the services that have established NexC,
the parent company of Rolling Pin Asia, as the one-stop shop for hospitality
recruitment in the region. There are, of course, many others.
The Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts in Phuket recently tapped NexC
to find a corporate director of human resources. NexC placed Manuel
Gregorio de Garriz, formerly human resources at the Hotel Inter-Continental
Manila, in that position.
The Peninsula Group's Palace Hotel Beijing used NexC to bring in Manfred
Weber, previously the food and beverage manager at a Hyatt Regency
in Saudi Arabia, as its F&B director. And Crystal Cruises hired
NexC to find Japanese chef Hirokatsu Fukuzato to work for three months
aboard one of its luxury liners.
In each case, NexC provided personalized and expert services - including
the evaluation of resumes and the short-listing of candidates - to
companies in need of key personnel. As successful as NexC has been
in staff recruitment and placement, however, the company's tailor-made
services for the hospitality sector go well beyond that.
"Recruitment is one very important part of NexC," says Josef
Paier, a former chef who founded NexC in 1995 with the vision of creating
a global network of hospitality professionals. "But we are unique
in offering a complete suite of products, tools and services - both
online and offline - that help hospitality professionals manage their
careers and stay connected."
Building Relationships
NexC maintains a team of internationally experienced career development
experts who help individuals manage, update and improve their portfolios.
One of the company's innovative products is CVrom, which presents
an individual's professional credentials in a cutting-edge digital
format the size of a business card.
NexC's online JobMart is a comprehensive and dynamically driven marketplace
for both companies and individuals, while NexC Classifieds is a targeted
online service that delivers hospitality industry job vacancies to
subscribers.
Among the other unique job-related services offered by NexC is the
Specialist for Lease, which allows companies to tap the services of
highly trained personnel for pre-openings, special projects, peak
seasons or emergency situations.
In February, NexC added to its constellation of products and services
Rolling Pin Asia, the only publication dedicated to the hospitality
job market in the Asia Pacific and Middle East. The magazine, published
monthly in English and Chinese, has the region's most robust section
of classified ads targeted at the hospitality job market.
Rolling Pin Asia focuses on the people and issues shaping the hospitality
sector in the most dynamic region of the world - from hotels and cruise
lines to restaurants and airlines. In keeping with its focus on job
market, the Human Resources section examines an important career-related
issue each month - often from the perspective of an industry expert.
Rolling Pin Asia also dedicates a section to hospitality education
in recognition of the fact that the future of the industry lies in
the hands of those who are still in school.
The magazine is an extension of NexC's powerful online information
hub, which includes a monthly e-mail newsletter read by thousands
of hospitality industry professionals worldwide as well as comprehensive
directories of airlines, airports, world facts and more. On the Move
is a service that lets users track key personnel changes worldwide,
while Missing in Action is a unique interactive service for finding
former colleagues who have dropped out of sight.
"At the end of the day, it's always about people," Paier
says, explaining the underlying philosophy for the company's recruitment
and career development services. "At NexC, we don't just build
portfolios, we build relationships." |
