Juliane Caspar, a former restaurateur from Bochum in western Germany, takes over as editor-in-chief of Michelin guide – French edition, making her the first foreigner and the first woman to take the job. The “impartial and incorruptible” Juliane does not give face-to-face interviews – the back of her head is all she will show - to remain anonymous to be able to do her job as a food taster. Miss Caspar was previously in charge of the Michelin guides for Germany, Switzerland and Austria

Dubbed as the “best job in the world,” Australia‘s latest tourism campaign is a job that offers a salary of $105,000 to spend six months on the Great Barrier Reef island of Hamilton. The successful candidate will have to go scuba diving, snorkeling and hiking and enjoy at least 25 nearby island resorts. Thrown in is a luxury three-bedroom home and transportation to and from the island. The ad caused a stir and its website could not cope with the volume of interest and crashed for several hours. |

New Bali School Goes Green |

Fall 2008 marked the start of Bali‘s new innovative and sustainable school, The Green School, giving students from all over the globe the chance to learn the latest in green living while living in paradise. Founders Cynthia and John Harvey built the school on a 20-acre land using organic permaculture system. The school's 75 buildings are cooled and powered with renewable energy sources. Bamboo, lalang-alang grass (a local grass), and traditional mud walls form the structure of the buildings |
