Raving Review SEAC 2004: How Can It Get Any better?

Staged last January 11-13, this extravaganza was so persuasive and teeming with eagerness that there are now sponsors lining up for the next production, in 2006. But let’s allow ourselves the luxury of a rearview mirror glance of what specifically transpired earlier this year.

Anytime you have 120 golfing chefs and culinary personalities from 20 plus different nations get together in one country for 36 holes of golf in a competitive, yet informal 3-night, 2-day gathering, you’re liable to see some pretty impressive things happen. The concoction was in fact once again irrepressible formulae for physical and sumptuous accomplishment.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without the robust sponsorship that has become natural by-product of a track record of past successes. There were also special prices pegged (no pun intended) to the Sta. Elena Golf Club and the Riviera Golf and Country Club in which both rounds of Golf were played.

In between the two days of Golf there was a delectable dinner at Le Souffle in Fort Bonifacio, and of course the entire celebration and gauntlet of activities was climaxed on the final evening following the final round of Golf at Mandarin Oriental Manila, which naturally was where all satiated participants had been billeted.

The famed chameleon/comedian Willie Nepomuceno made his second side-splitting appearance at SEAC, this time as emcee as well. It was breathtaking evening – non-stop entertainment, laughter, fabulous food and a solid rejuvenation of that much-needed camaraderie between colleagues. After all, the 120 satiated souls may live thousands of miles apart in every direction – north, east, south and west - but we are fully aware that the center of gravity now known as SEAC will keep us together in spirit until the next time – 2006 – when we can once again commune with one another to renew the next two loves of their lives (aside from the first, our families, of course): golf and culinary delights.
