Whew! At the 5th SEAC Golf Tournament 2006, we have definitely reached our summit. Total golfer participation reached an all-time high of 144 players with even a dozen of waitlisted hopefuls hanging on until the last minute for any emergency cancellations. Total number of delegates including non-golfers was 160, comprised of 25 different nationalities and coming from 20 different country-bases. Well, as SEAC Chairman Werner Berger has confirmed, we are now even bigger than the Philippine Open. We had as well the biggest ever contingent from the Thai Chefs Association with 30 people. Major sponsorships have also been committed way ahead and we are truly grateful for their loyalty.
More importantly, we are all witness to the fact that the SEAC golfers have also reached their apex in their passion for golf as they relentlessly braved the sudden strong winds and non-stop bouts of rain spells all throughout the day at Mt. Malarayat Golf & Country Club.
The exhaustion though at the end of the first golfing day was well-rewarded with a comical welcome by cute little midget golfers and mime artists at the Le Souffle Fort restaurant where a very unique Filipino-inspired four-course dinner was especially created for SEAC by 4 of the well-respected new-generation Filipino Chefs. To our surprise, the late crowd was truly magnetized to the Bloomfields' hyper rendition of The Beatles' Rock & Roll Music, thus setting the golfers and midgets alike in a contagious frenzy when the band played the anarchic "Great Balls of Fire" and they almost simply didn't want to stop!
The SEAC event culminated at the Mandarin Ballroom where the Awarding Ceremonies were held. SEAC Awarding has truly lived up to its uniqueness and creativity in their trophy forms and bonus prizes which definitely add so much value in honor of the winners. The air was also filled with excitement over the fantastic door prizes that each participant was entitled to. For entertainment, the retro-musical theme moved on to the relaxing classics & ballads of The Platters with a splendid solo performance by Bobby Soul. The audience reminisced with hit songs like "The Great Pretender" and "Only You". Then seeming to provide a heart-pumping mood were the surprise sizzling dance presentations in hot fancy costumes by the Joules Cabaret Dancers. Capping off the evening was a hilarious show and lively music by international artist Salvo!
Until our next rendezvous for golfing action, do keep your spirits high when we meet again at SEAC 2008!
