But first and foremost, Heinz von Holzen (hvhfood@indosat.net .id) is a chef with a mission: to tell the world that the island paradise of Bali has more than just rice fields and tourist attractions but also a cuisine which ranks among other classic Asian cuisines.


What else is there to learn about this master-of-all-trades? He went from engines to kitchens. Prior to becoming a chef, Heinz was an engine designer. Hes an artist even outside the kitchen. He climbs a 3000-m volcano at least once a month, and takes his mountain bike on 50-km trips almost daily.

Hes an active part of Turtles Unlimited, a group of nature lovers that aim to re-populate Balis coastline with endangered marine turtles.
